Trevor Lawrence On Jaguars Win: I Made A Promise To Jaxson de Ville
After the LA Chargers finished packing their lucky jockstraps and scrubbing the visitor’s locker room of tears and used Kleenex on Saturday, ActionNewsFax caught up with Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence for his thoughts on the third biggest comeback in playoff history.
The second-year QB opened up about what it was like to walk into the locker room at half-time, why the team outperformed in the fourth quarter, and what he thinks next weekend will bring.
“I made a promise to Jaxson de Ville; I owe him everything.”

Jaguars score 31 points after 4 interceptions
After what was an absolute beat down of a first half, Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars roared back to life in the second, overcoming what was (at one point) a 27-point deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round.
Jaguars’ fans were quick to celebrate on social.
You can’t blame Jaguars fans after the swagger show put on by Trevor Lawrence in the second half. ActionNewsFax sports reporter and Snarky Shart alum, Christine Sus, asked Lawrence about the confidence boost in the second half.
“It wasn’t confidence. Look, the locker room was thrilled. We were almost finished. The season was almost over. But I made a promise to that cat [Jaxson de Ville], and Trevor Lawrence never breaks a promise,” said the first-round draft pick.
“Jaxson de Ville has been doing this job for 30 years. Thirty years, bro. He was doing this before I was even born. He’s old, dude; honestly, I’m surprised this organization allows this to continue. How is he still jumping off the roof of Wembley? It’s insane. But this guy hasn’t even been to a Super Bowl. WTF?”
The second-year QB said that while the Chargers clearly deserved the win, what he saw in the locker room changed things for the team.
“Look, Justin Herbert was on fire, no question. And I threw the ball to their defense four times; truthfully, we all just wanted to go home. None of us even wanted to play an 18th game this year. But I bumped into Jaxson during the half, and, well, things are worse than we thought,” Trevor Lawrence said.
“He told me Mrs. de Ville said that if we don’t make it to the Divisional Round, she’s packing up and moving the pride to London. Bro, it’s too cold for Jaguars in London.”
Trevor Lawrence: He’s like a brother to me
This wouldn’t be the first time Mrs. de Ville threatened to move the kids to London. In 2017, Jacksonville football’s first lady began flirting with the idea of divorcing Jaxson and heading to The Big Smoke if the Jags didn’t reach the AFC Championship, a threat that frightened players so much they overcompensated with a promised Super Bowl run.
Lawrence says that that won’t happen on his watch.
“When I got to Jacksonville, the only character that spent time with me was Jaxson. We were still working with Urban Meyer, easily one of the best coaches in the NFL, but he was always so busy. So Jaxson and I formed this bond. He introduced me to my wife, bro. He’s like a brother to me now. You don’t let brothers down, even if they aren’t actually people.”
Trevor Lawrence says there is nothing he wouldn’t do for Jaxson de Ville, but he was jumpy about details.
“Listen, I can’t really say what I did or didn’t sacrifice during the half to make this happen, and I don’t know what next weekend looks like. All I’ll say is this; Mrs. de Ville will move these kittens across the pond over my Labrador’s dead body.”
The Jaguars will most likely face the Kansas City Chiefs next week in Arrowhead, barring upsets in today’s Miami/Buffalo and Cincinnati/Baltimore Wildcard Rounds.
Update!!!
ActionNewsFax can now confirm that the Labrador in question is not Trevor’s dog. Question on everyone’s mind: so who’s dog was it?
